On Mar 7, 1740 he was said to be living on 'Mr Read's farm' and on the 16th of Jan 1741 described himself as being a blacksmith in Hardwick. As an heir, sold 1/3 of the grant by Watertown to Samuel Freeman in 1640. That grant being 35 acres.

Henry served from 1691 to 1702 as a member of the general assembly of the Province of New Yorkand was speaker from 1693 to 1695. In 1700 he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Militia. He was elected several years with Colonel Matthew Howell, his brother-in-law, to the Colonial Assembly, being a Representative from Suffolk from 1691 to 1701. In October 1634 nearly 600 of the inhabitants of Suffolk decided to immigrate to America and he was probably one of this large group. Stephen and his first wife Anna were married 12 years. She died when Samuel was born and Stephen remarried soon after the same year. Stephen and his second wife Sarah were married approximately 40 years. When she married Stephen, she later claimed, he had six children for her to care for. Together they had 2, they were John and Mary. Variation in the spelling of the last name include Fosdyck. He immigrated in 1635 from Lincolnshire, England admitted as freeman (right to vote) by papers on 7 Sep 1638. His name first appears in America, in the town records of Charleston, 11 July 1635. Was Puritan by tradition, quaker by faith, and excommunicated for reading Baptist tracts and fined 20 pounds all on 7 May 1643, then reinstated 10 May 1648 upon payment of 5 pounds. Membership was not restored until 1664, 3 months before he died. Stephen's house would have been of rough boards, probably two story, unpainted, box- like without porches or stoops, the second story projecting over the first (an architecture brought from East Anglia). The interior would have been exceedingly plain, furniture homemade, stools taking the place of chairs. There was no pottery or chinaware, wooden trenchers taking the place of plates; drinking out of leather tankards. There were no forks. Although introduced from Italy into Elizabethan England, they were regarded by most people as affectation. Beds were plain wooden frames with tall posts at the corners. Cords or ropes stretched across and a hay-filled mattress was laid over the network. Thick curtains surrounded the beds to keep out the drafts. Food consisted of meat, game, and fish, together with corn and beans. Drink was beer or cider for adults and children. Tea and coffee had been introduced. Milk was seldom drunk and water was regarded with deep suspicion, sanitation being primitive. They did not take baths, many human ailments ascribed to contact with water, and washing with water was limited to hands and face. His estate was inventoried at 500 pounds, most if it in land. His sole surviving son, John was named executor.. Probate occurred on 23 June 1664. He is buried in Old Burying Ground, now known as Phipps Street Burying Ground, and one of Boston's quaintest. No gravestone exists because the British regiments used the gravestones for thethresholds of the barracks of their soldiers on Bunker Hill.
